Dark Envoy is an RPG game developed by Event Horizon - a studio known for creating warmly received Tower of Time, released in 2017. The new Event Horizon video game introduces a completely new, unique world, where technology is fueled by magic. You might say that the created universe is a combination of worlds known from, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and XCOM. According to the developers, Dark Envoy's strongest elements are engaging story, exploration, and tactical combat system. The game is planned for release in 2022.

Story Background

The action of the game takes place in a world, where people have learned how to combine technology with magic. The story introduces two main characters - Kaela, and her brother Kiros. After some tragic events, they decide to repair their airship and embark on a dangerous, yet exciting adventure, searching for ancient artifacts hidden within depths of various forgotten dungeons. During the journey, siblings will meet many unique and colorful characters, visit beautiful locations, and fight dangerous enemies. It is worth mentioning that the story is non-linear, and its ending will differ depending on the player's actions.

Dark Envoy Gameplay Mechanics

During the gameplay, players will observe the action from an isometric view. The game's world is divided into separate regions. To travel from one region to another, players will use their airship, which will also play the role of their mobile headquarters.

Most of the time, we will spend our time exploring procedurally generated dungeons, looking for hidden treasures, and completing numerous quests. It is worth adding that the said dungeons are procedurally generated which means that no run will be the same.

During the adventure, players will have to face many dangerous enemies. The combat system presented in Dark Envoy video game plays out in real-time, with the Active Pause feature (similar to the one known from Dragon Age, or Mass Effect games). During encounters, players will have to take a tactical approach - characters have several special abilities, that will often help them turn the tide of a battle. The game features 4 different base classes and 16 specializations. With good skills management, players can discover powerful skill synergies that will help them beat their enemies with ease. Besides the single-player experience, the game allows us to complete the full story while playing in an online cooperation mode with a friend.
