An action-adventure game that tells the story of the legendary Monkey King based on the animated movie under the same title.  Inspired by the popular Journey to the West book, the game immerses players in the times when legendary heroes with great powers were more than present. Take part in a great adventure for freedom with epic monsters, and breathtaking battles with giant bosses.

Story

The story starts with the Sun Wukong being captured by the wrathful gods and sent to prison for 500 years. One day a young boy whose village was attacked by the terrifying monsters helps Monkey King escape. In return, Monkey King decides to help the boy and save the villagers. In addition to the story from the movie, developers introduced a number of new plot points, which improve the variety of activities.

More than meets the eye

It may seem as it is a direct copy of the story from the movie, however, the developers implemented new plots into the main thread to make it even more diverse and interesting. For those who have seen the movie, the game offers additional experiences connected with the interactive action and more involved active partaking in the events. The graphics have been designed to resemble the style of the movie, as some scenes found their place in the game.

Gameplay

In Monkey King: Hero is Back, the player takes control over the Sun Wukong himself and a boy that saved him. The open world is full of new places to explore and to see what you can find. Apart from items, upgrading your skills and fighting bosses it is worth mentioning that the mechanics in the game are very well scripted. The gameplay focuses on platforming elements combined with exciting battles with mystical enemies. Play as the titular Monkey King and fight your enemies with style, as you learn additional combos, finishers, abilities and superpowers like fireballs. Additionally, while you fight, you will encounter quick time events that will allow you to counter specific attacks.
