Permafrost is a story-driven open-world survival sandbox developed by SpaceRocket Games. Explore a frozen post-apocalyptic Earth as Rook, an engineer trying to survive deadly cold, scarce resources and hostile territories. Gameplay

Survival in Permafrost revolves around exploration, preparation and resource management. Weather conditions, shelter and careful planning can determine how far an expedition can safely go.

Collected resources can be used to craft tools and equipment, restore abandoned shelters and repair technology. Progress is closely connected to exploration, encouraging players to establish new safe locations before pushing deeper into the world. The game can be played solo or cooperatively with up to four players, allowing a group to share supplies, construction duties and other survival responsibilities.

Story

Permafrost takes place on a near-future Earth devastated by a series of catastrophes that ultimately shattered the Moon and left the planet trapped in an endless winter. Players take the role of Rook, an engineer with valuable rebuilding skills but limited wilderness experience.

A radio signal from a long-lost friend draws Rook into the frozen wasteland. The journey leads through the remains of civilization, isolated communities and territories controlled by surviving factions while gradually revealing more about the disaster and the people trying to live in its aftermath.

Permafrost presents a grounded post-apocalyptic setting dominated by snow, ice and the ruins of modern civilization. Frozen urban areas transition into isolated wilderness, abandoned infrastructure and makeshift shelters.
