Wargroove (PC) Steam Key

Wargroove is a turn-based tactical game, developed and published by Chucklefish. A spiritual successor to the Nintendo Wars titles, Wargroove puts the player in charge of an army of different types of units, led by one of fifteen commanders. The game features a single-player campaign mode divided into arcs, completing of which unlocks other game modes: arcade and puzzle. Wargroove’s story follows the conflict between the kingdoms of Aurania and Felheim.

Tactical gameplay full of groove

Wargroove’s mechanics bring back the old-style of strategy gameplay. The core of it is based around exploring maps and battling increasingly stronger foes. The player wins the battle by defeating the enemy commander or by conquering their stronghold. The game can  be played in a single-player campaign or in local or online multiplayer, with several modes available. 

The game features a weather conditions system, where the type of elements on the battlefield will influence the result of the skirmish: windy weather might provide additional perks for units relying on gusts, while storms blowing through the land will make things more difficult for the player.

During the playthrough, the player will control one of fifteen commanders, who in turn are in charge of their units. The player’s army will consist of ground, air and sea units, each of which has a different range, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Getting familiar with the units’ strengths and weaknesses will be a key to victory.  

Groovy Story

The Kingdom of Aurania is in danger! Due to the machinations of vampire Sigrid, the kingdom has fallen under attack of the evil Valder and his Felheim Legions. With the king of Aurania killed by Sigrid, newly crowned queen Mercia must defend her kingdom at all cost. But she cannot do it alone. Thus, she embarks on a journey, aided by the wizard Elmeric, to recruit allies who will help her reclaim Aurania from the hands of Valder and his undead minions.

Reception

Wargroove for PC received positive reception form the critics and fans, who praised the game for being one of the few representatives of the old school RPGs on the market. Reviews noted the games fantastic, pixel-art design, memorable characters, and compelling dialogue. The gameplay received high praise for being welcoming to the newcomers as well as veterans of the genre.
